It sucks that they hired someone else, but I'm glad you feel like you haven't lost anything.
Another way to look at it is, the next time a job possibility comes your way, you already have some of the planning/logistics done. So it's one less thing to stress over.
Also, are you going to be cross-posting everything from now on (aka can I take your LJ off my feed list because it's getting cluttered)?
